When a death occurs in a nursing home or aged care facility the manager must arrange for your loved one to be taken into the care of a local funeral director.

If this is not the funeral director of your choice, we can help arrange for your loved one to be transferred to your preferred funeral director, as soon as possible.

Peter Erceg, owner and founder of eziFunerals says, “Most people we speak to don’t know they can change funeral directors after their loved one has been taken into the care of another funeral home.”

We recently spoke to a customer whose mother had passed away in an aged care facility. He was living interstate and his mother was in Melbourne.

“Unfortunately the nursing home was anxiously waiting for the family to engage a funeral director as they needed the mother to be transferred that evening.

In the rush, and not having previously considered what funeral director they would use, another family member engaged a funeral director who worked for one of the big funeral chains.

He rang eziFunerals as he was uncomfortable with the funeral company that had his mother in their care. We were able to help him understand his rights and connect him with one of our family-owned and independent funeral directors.b

In the end, he arranged for his mother to be transferred to a funeral director he was more comfortable with and saved thousands of dollars at the same time.

The moral of the story … if you or someone you know has an elderly relative living in an aged care facility, you should make enquiries with eziFunerals now.

If you have not chosen a funeral director or need to change funeral directors, then take time to do this ensuring you have chosen the correct one for you and your family to work with.

Once you have made your decision, arrangements can then be made to transfer your loved one to a funeral director you know and trust.
